WebGLRenderingContext: createShader() method

This feature is well established and works across many devices and browser versions. It’s been available across browsers since July 2015.

The WebGLRenderingContext
method createShader() of the WebGL API creates a
WebGLShader that can then be configured further using
WebGLRenderingContext.shaderSource() and
WebGLRenderingContext.compileShader().
Syntax
createShader(type)
Parameters
type-
Either
gl.VERTEX_SHADERorgl.FRAGMENT_SHADER. TheWebGLRenderingContextwill set thegl.INVALID_ENUMerror flag if an unacceptable value has been specified.
Return value
A new WebGLShader instance, or null if an error occurs creating the shader (for example, because type was an invalid value).
